It is pretty bold to say you like orks but don't like bulky designs. Da ork teknologee an' design iz most superior an' better kompared to de pansy 'umies an' pointy-ears. I am pretty sure The Emperor told his servants to connect him to The Golden Throne so him not being able to be reborn isn't the fault of his servants. Erda is pretty much barebones meh character.

Another awesome timeline of 40k video is "TIMELINE of the 40K UNIVERSE by Trazyn the Infinite" from Warrior Tier. Probably my personal favorite one. But i highly suggest you watch "Trazyn the Infinite - It's Not Grave Robbery if it's Archeology" by PancreasNoWork to understand who the Necron, that is narrating the timeline, is.

An important thing to note about keeping the emperor "alive" is that in his actual state he's more powerfull that he ever was (especially after the opening of the great rift that empowered all the psykers). In this state he's able to make "miracle" such as empowering normal people turning them into saints with incredible powers, sumoning dead space marine the legion of the damned the same way the chaos god does with their daemons, or curing Guilliman from a Nurgle disease specifically made to kill primarchs. In fact, in a recent book, one fallen from the dark angels, Cypher, planned to kill the emperor to allow him to revive, but he stopped him saying it was not the right time. Because of his foresight he must have seen that there is a future threat he wouldn't be able to stop if he was in his previous state.

An important distinction to note about Erda. She’s the “mother” of the Primarchs because she helped genetically engineer them, not because she was involved with the Emperor romantically. Genetic engineering was something that she was very knowledgeable about and had lots of experience in. Like most of his followers, she initially held the Emperor in high regard but there is nothing implicating that she was romantically attracted to the Emperor.

@27:39 Bricky mentions it very briefly in his timeline video. He just says there was an “AI rebellion, a standard type of event for this kind of setting.” Or at least something like that. Either way he mentions it very briefly because he doesn’t feel like it’s that important in order to understand the setting and because very little about the Men of Iron and their rebellion is known for certain in the lore.

The biggest obstacle for anyone new to 40k is the price. A starter box that would contain enough disassembled models to build 2 armies costs over $100, then you have to buy the main rulebook for that edition and any of the army codices you want to run and the parts to build those models and the paints and any setting books for battles set in different parts of the galaxy. And you still have to look up online for rules revisions and points changes because apparently GW doesn't do extensive test playing when new models or tulebooks or codices come out. There are ways to circumvent some of those costs by buying third party models and paints. However GW doesn't allow third party models at their official tournaments. Which is perfectly fine as most people who are buying third party models aren't playing in tournaments and instead just playing against their friends.

A more accurate translation of the word “Grozny” is “Fearsome” or “Menacing” .As in Ivan the Fearsome, or Ivan the Menacing. A word that indicates fear and respect. However the Slavic origins of the word may have different meanings in different Slavic languages, I only speak Russian, and since we’re talking about the first emperor of Russia, very fitting that he is a paranoid, brutal, and unlike certain people I shall not name, effective (if you ignore the fact his dynasty, the Rurikids, died with his son, leaving the door open for an event know as “the time of troubles).

The inherent goodness of the Superman character has made it a trope for writers to speculate on what would push him over the edge. The only available catalysts are his teammates and Lois, since you’d have to know his secret identity to target the Kents. It’s why we have so many stories of alternate timelines where Lois and/or the League are dead.

I can kind of see where the Swedes were coming from. They knew that they were no match for the German army; so letting them cross made sense. And by allowing them passage, Sweden was able to provide intelligence to the Allies. Also, the British naval blockade likely affected their trade; so I’m sure the money received by selling oil to the Germans was appreciated. I would guess that was why they took in the refugees to try to make up for that.

WW1 Sweden was very pro-German and the eugenics capital of the world, that tradition made it very delectable for the Nazis along the whole muh nordic thing. Why sweden didn’t join? Because there was no reason to, they gave nazis everything they wanted sans maybe some political refugees (which were held in prison camps btw).

By the start of the war, the Swedish military was very underfunded, but the war gave birth to an extremely robust military industry that they still have today, and by 1943, they had in secret mobilised several hundred thousand men. By 1944, the military was seen as ready, and the Swedish government started testing Germany by pulling out of agreements, like the transit of German troops, and eventually ceasing trade with Germany entirely, and in 1945 was prepared to move in and liberate Denmark and Norway, but the war ended before that could happen. They did not just rescue Danish and Norwegian Jews, the Swedish military also trained Norwegian refugees under the guise that they were police troops, but in reality, they were soldiers preparing to take control of Norway until their government in exile could return and prevent Norway from becoming free real estate.

Sidenote: one of my favourite boomerang unintended effects of all time has to be how the nazis forced many german socialists and democrats to flee the country with most, due to wartime realities, eventually ending up in Sweden. Those guys then learning the wonders of social democracy (you know, that thing that has verifiably and numerically proven to result in the most prosperous, stable and happy societies in human history so far and which american conservatives are just beyond desperate to pretend doesn't exist or only works for places comprised of 99% white people because reasons) while they were there, and upon returning home, in post-war West-Germany (after having the "true socialists" lose a few elections) getting elected on the promise of bringing THAT system, rather than the soviet one, to the country, resulting in the beyond-miraculous recovery of Germany throughout the rest of the 20th century. Willy Brand, basically germany's FDR, was married to a Swede from his time as an exile in Sweden, and when elected Chancellor he set the stage for the re-rise of Germany by putting social democracy in place firm enough that, much like FDR's social assistance programs in America, even future more conservative governments would find them too entrenched and popular to undo, whatever their ideological grumbles. By causing all german socialists to end up in the one country that they didn't invade, and that country being a model social democracy, Hitler and the Nazis ensured that Germany would become the economic centre of Europe after all - just not quite in the way and under the leadership that they had intended.... Tangent over. Not quite related to the video, but that historical irony never ceases to bring a smile to my face.

The base video is pretty good, but there are a couple of issues with the information presented. First, it is very common for people to draw a parallel between the US placing missiles in Turkey/Italy and the USSR putting nukes in Cuba, but the two actions are not really similar at all, beyond the base level nuclear threat they both represented. When the US put nukes in Turkey/Italy, they did so at the public request of the Turks/Italians as part of their membership in the NATO military alliance and in full view of the world...not to mention that the missiles were announced publicly years before they were actually deployed, also publicly. When the Soviets put nukes in Cuba, they did so with the highest possible secrecy, without ever having a recognized military alliance between the two nations, and with no request from the Cuban government...the Soviets had to talk Castro into letting them do it. I would also criticize the base video maker for not noting the time in the 1960s when the Soviets designed the RBMK reactor, since that is the beginning of the Chernobyl disaster. The Soviets knew from the beginning that the design was unsafe, and yet decided to build a whole bunch of RBMK reactors for nuclear power anyway. The 1960s is also when they decided to cover up any information about the RBMK not being 100 percent safe, even from their own nuclear power engineers, operators and plant workers. Just a quick note...the USSR were the only country to build reactors like the RBMK for nuclear power...every other country that tested water cooled graphite moderated reactors was smart enough to know that they were not safe for nuclear power use. You talked about wind/solar vs nuclear, and you are right that nuclear power plants would take up much much less space than equivalent wind/solar plants. Also, wind and solar are not reliable power sources...they are by their nature intermittent...so in order to make any wind/solar system work overall, we would need a way to generate enough power for out base electrical needs when the wind/solar plants are not generating. Nuclear is really the only option for that base load...since there is not enough hydro potential around the world to cover it. So we really should be going all in on nuclear as fast as we can, if we want any chance to get to anything like zero carbon anytime soon. The reason the Jews went to where they did is because of their multi year project of buying land in the area...the basic territory that was to encompass Israel was based on the lands that Jews had already purchased there. The main reason the Arabs opposed the British rule over the Palestine mandate was because the British allowed Jews to buy and own land, and the Arabs chose to support the Germans in WW2 because the Germans promised to undo all the land purchases of the Jews. Of course, the British promise to let the Jews have a homeland in the area also had something to do with it. Considering how many promises the Brits did not follow through on after World War 2, it seems fitting in some way that the one they made to the Jews would come to fruition. Base video is also pretty dishonest about nuclear waste. We have known of multiple ways to deal with nuclear waste, including chemical reprocessing of waste and the use of waste as fuel in fast reactors and other types. The only barriers to dealing with nuclear waste are politics and the extra expense of reprocessing/using the waste. If the US had the political will and chose to spend the money, there is 150 years worth of all of America's electrical needs sitting in spent fuel storage at US nuclear power plants right now. Japan could not do without nuclear power...they have at least 12 plants operating now, with 2 more under construction...according to their IAEA profile. Sorry to talk so much.

The historian Xenophon passed through the east, near the ruins of Nineveh, capital of the Assyrian empire and 200 years dead. He tells us the locals had no idea who built it. Oral history dies faster than you think.

Santa Anna was a dumbass i swear, if you research more in dept they were allot of battles that Mexico could have won and even won the whole world but Santa Anna was literally a dumbass with a huge ego that took every wrong decision he could.
